As stewards of energy distribution for the WSU campuses, Facilities Operations is committed to wise use of our energy resources. You are encouraged to help us conserve energy by participating in a campus-wide reduction in consumption. For conservation tips, links to other energy websites, our new Energy Conservation Incentive Program (ECIP) and information on the Energy Services Performance Contracting (ESPC) that WSU is currently undergoing, visit the energy group home page.
WSU has been improving equipment operating efficiency.
- Lighting upgrades using more efficient lighting systems. (Removed over 75 tons of PCB containing light ballasts)
- Chilled water system upgrades improving efficiency & capacity. (Eliminated ozone-depleting refrigerant from campus chillers)
- HVAC upgrades installing more efficient, more easily maintained fan walls. (Improved environments for teaching, learning and working)
To date, WSU energy costs have been reduced by over $1 Million per year. Electrical consumption reduced 7.3% and steam demand reduced 5%.
